Here is a place where you can catch a glimpse of lakes, fields, mountains and various landscapes of British Columbia. I enjoy breathing the air the higher in elevation I go. There is a sweet smell to the atmosphere depending on the day. For those of you who have a heart that is tied with great love to our Mother Earth please enjoy this blog and I welcome your opinions and feedback Love and Light Colleen

Promontory Mountian

Good day to all. It is an overcast day here on the mountain. The air is sweet with the smell of fresh cut hay and wildflowers.

Here is an article on my childhood playground. Growing up in Lower Nicola, British Columbia I had the wilderness all around. My brothers and I spent many days on the thresh hold of Promontory Mountain. There are still reminisces of our forts and dirt bike/toboggan trails.

On the top of Promontory Mountain there is a fire tower and one spectacular view. On a clear day you can see Mount Baker in Washington State. Heading towards Spences Bridge out of Merritt (Hwy 8) the turn off for Promontory Mountain is between Lower Nicola and Canford. It is a 13-14 km drive on a dirt road to the top of the mountain. The landscape is desert like and there are numerous jumping cactus plants. For those going hiking in this region it is a good idea to pack a pair of pliers. If you see a cactus plant walk lightly because it is the vibration that makes them jump.
Here are some photos courtesy of my sister Steph. These photos are from the tower on top of Promontory Mountian. You can see the city of Merritt and beyond. Have a most wonderful day.

Homesteading, British Columbia

The owners call this homestead ‘Valley View’; it is a 45-minute hike from our home. At the beginning of May my husband and I packed a picnic and headed up the road. What an amazing afternoon, we were on top of the world. It is place of beauty and solitude.

The North Thompson River Valley

The settlers must have endured a hard life, co-existing with Mother Earth. Spending the day imagining how they lived and exploring the dwellings was a lot of fun. A day of good air and energy made for a great sleep that evening.

There are a lot of old homesteads throughout The Ranchland and Gold Rush areas of British Columbia. If you drive the secondary highways on the British Columbia Road map you will find many treasures. I always keep my eyes open any route I take. I love the old ruins and the pieces left behind from those before me.

Have a most wonderful day there will be more posts to come.

Tunkwa Lake, British Columbia

Hello to everyone this month has gotten off to a slow start many things going on and little time at the computer. So here is this month's first post.

This is one of my favorite childhood lakes, many fishing trips to Tunkwa Lake. Nestled between Logan Lake and Savona, British Columbia, there is Tunkwa Provincial Park. This lake is a beautiful place for the whole family. You have hiking trails and different levels of lakes, creeks, and ponds. Tunkwa Lake is 296 hectares and is over 3000 feet in elevation. There is a boat launch and a camp ground. Here are a couple of photos that my dear friends took on a weekend camping trip.

The beauty of nature has always amazed me. This area of British Columbia is set up for "A Lake a Day as long as you stay". The air is truly pure when you are above 3000 feet in elevation. The fishing depends on the day, however one will not be disappointed with the beauty.
